EDEP 411 (writing-intensive)

Passages: Adventures on the path to becoming an adult

Summer Session II: July 7 - August 14

Tuesday, Thursday: 1:30P - 4:00P

Wednesday: 1:30P - 2:45P

Instructors: Gary Tachiyama and Barbara Watanabe

(Approximately 6-8 additional service learning hours are required. This can involve mentoring incoming SSS students and volunteer hours at UHM's New Student Orientations. Expect to commit a few hours of your time to this requirement)

A 3-credit, non-introductory elective (writing-intensive).  If you enjoy class discussion and helping other students, you might be interested in this tuition-free class available to SSS Students only.  It is a special Outreach College course not found in the schedule of classes booklet--a registration fee of $107 is applied however the cost of the tuition is free.

Textbook: Motivation and Learning Strategies for College Success (Dembo)

Prerequisite: Psy 100 or Edep 311 or consent

Eligibility: Students who are taking at least two other courses

EDEP 327 is a practical, writing-intensive course designed for the undergraduate student who is committed to achieving a higher degree of academic success.  The purpose of this course is to help you understand how people learn more effectively, and to guide your application of this knowledge to courses you are currently taking.  In this course you will learn how to:

bulletTake notes that really help you learn and review
bulletRead and understand your textbooks in less time
bulletDecrease exam jitters
bulletWriter clearer papers
